Meet Chris McManus

Principal & Accredited Personal Injury Specialist

It ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward.

Background

Chris is one of the few who knew he wanted to be a lawyer from a young age.  While other school friends nominated their life goals as playing cricket for Australia or being a Hollywood actor Chris was fixed on a life of law.

Why?  He loves helping the underdog and making sure there’s a fair and just outcome.  He never gives up until that’s achieved.

That’s why his role as an owner and Principal at Murphy’s Law Accident Lawyers is with only the second law firm he’s been involved with in his career.

After twenty years at a national law firm working his way from a law graduate to a senior Partner (running a litigation team of up to 40 staff) he took an opportunity to step away from the heavy management focus and move back to his key interest in a hands-on role helping individuals in accident and insurance litigation.

Every claim is different:  at least that’s how they should be treated.  That makes things more challenging but also more rewarding.  It’s thinking laterally and developing effective strategies for each person with that in mind that Chris loves and still keeps him motivated in the career he’s always wanted to be involved in.

Chris has the energy, drive and tenacity, tempered with the wisdom of time and experience, to help you overcome any legal hurdle or challenge you’re faced with.

Industry Specialisation

Chris is a Queensland Law Society approved Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law.

Perhaps the best guide of all is having the confidence of others in the profession.

Specialist Accreditation

 In testament to that, Chris is regularly called upon by other personal injury practitioners, their staff or even insurance claims officers to act for them personally.

Chris’s expertise has also been recognised by his legal peers in the 2018 Doyle’s Guide with him being awarded the prestigious title of:

He is also recognised by the peer reviewed Best Lawyers in Australia11th Edition (published in the Australian Financial Review) in the fields of:

  • Personal Injury Litigation;
  • Motor Vehicle Law.

Chris was a Director of the charitable organisation, the Brain Injury Foundation Ltd, between August 2004 – August 2016.

Area of Expertise

Chris’s career in law has been exclusively in the accident and insurance field.

He has a broad depth of experience in all areas including:

  • Motor Vehicle Accidents;
  • Work Accidents;
  • Medical Negligence;
  • Public liability;
  • Asbestos Exposure;
  • Interstate and international claims;
  • TPD and other insurance claims;
  • Litigation processes in all jurisdictions.

Personal Interests

Chris was born in Scotland but spent most of his early life growing up on the Sunshine Coast (until returning to Scotland again for his final years of high school).

Regrettably he was blessed with none of the refined skills such a background should have provided.  While not becoming a master of golf, football/soccer or surfing he does still enjoy all aspects of those sports and activities.  He’s also a regular and keen swimmer. He enjoys live music and dabbles in guitar himself. His favourite past-time of all though is spending time with his and family and friends.
