Kirstie Watts, Associate at Murphy’s Law Accident Lawyers, was today named as a finalist in the 30 Under 30 Awards for Health, Medical and Personal Injury.
The prestigious awards program is dedicated to celebrating and highlighting the nation’s finest legal professionals under 30 who have achieved remarkable feats over the past year, providing them with the career-elevating exposure they deserve.
Straight off the back of her promotion to Associate this week, this recognition acknowledges her contribution to the firm’s Vaccine Injury Team, which navigated the unchartered waters of a completely new area of law under the Federal Government’s COVID-19 Vaccine Injury Scheme.
Since the inception of the Scheme, our firm has helped almost a thousand injured vaccine participants and Kirstie – along with our senior practitioners – are now regarded as Australia-wide experts on the operation of the Scheme.
“At the Scheme’s beginning we were starting from scratch, assessing the operation of the Scheme and the challenges we needed to overcome. It was an entirely new and unknown area to navigate,” Kirstie said.
“Through coordinated collaboration, our team grew a sophisticated internal assessment and evidence gathering framework, unique to Murphy’s Law.”
Kirstie is also active in events and training sessions through a number of professional associations, including Queensland Law Society, Queensland Young Lawyers, and Human Rights Law Association. She is also one of the original founding members of Northside Young Lawyers, an affiliation she and her colleagues created to engage young lawyers on Brisbane’s northside.
Kirstie’s placement as a Lawyers Weekly finalist recognises her unwavering determination and commitment to helping her clients while propelling the industry forward.
Winners will be announced at a black-tie gala at The Star, Sydney, on Thursday, 6 March 2025. We wish Kirstie all the very best of luck, and are hopeful she can bring an overall winner award back to Brisbane!
