Why Switch to Murphy’s Law?
- We treat you as an individual - our award winning team focuses on treating you as an individual, not a case number. We are proactive with communication and explain every step of the journey.
- Less cases per lawyer - Many law firms swamp their teams with 80+ cases per lawyer which makes it hard to give yours the attention it needs. We intentionally have far less cases per lawyer to be able to provide more individual attention to each.
- Determined and tenacious - We don’t roll over at the first insurance company offer. Our experienced team keeps fighting for the best outcome.
- Better outcomes - Using smarter strategies, determination and value focused rates, we aim to get you more money in your pocket and put you in the best position to move forwards with your life.

Common questions:
Should I switch law firms?
Generally speaking, you are better off trying to resolve any concerns you have with your current lawyers. We encourage people to make sure they've exhausted all reasonable options with their existing lawyers before considering moving elsewhere. That usually involves having a face-to-face meeting with the lawyer and/or their senior supervising lawyer where you can express your concerns and make a judgment about whether things are likely to improve. Sometimes changing lawyers within the existing firm is a good option.
In other instances where there’s been a real breakdown in the relationship and a lack of trust and confidence in the lawyer or law firm then a fresh start is the most sensible solution.
Will I need to pay fees to the other firm?
Every situation is different. Typically no win no fee costs agreements specify that if you leave the law firm you will become liable to pay the legal costs of your insurance claim immediately.
In saying that, most law firms are highly pragmatic about these sorts of situations and will reach an agreement with the new lawyers where the new lawyer pays the outstanding outlays and the former lawyer agrees to hand over their file and defer payment of their professional fees until the end of the insurance claim.
Ultimately then, in a practical sense, you commonly don’t need to ay anything upfront to change law firms. You should seek legal advice about your own particular scenario before changing firms.
Will I need to start the whole process again?
No, we will get the file moved across from your current firm. We will need to review the work to date to bring ourselves up to speed and look for gaps and opportunities to build your case. But many of the steps already taken will not need to be duplicated.
Will it slow things down even more?
Not generally. We do need to review the work done by your current lawyer of course but if things have been going slowly with your current firm we will be as proactive as we can be to make sure the insurance claim process is expedited
Can I switch?
The ability to switch will depend on a number of things such as the stage of your claim. If for example you are at the very end of the process then it might not be in your best interests to move. We will find out more information and will only advise a switch if we think it would be to your benefit.
