Abby Schoorl of Murphy’s Law Accident Lawyers has been admitted to the legal profession, moved by the firm’s Special Counsel Michelle Tomley.

Having previously received a scholarship to study at Bond University through her swimming achievements, Abby’s discipline in the water is matched only by her drive to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. As a national backstroke winner, Abby, quite literally, understands the ripple effects accidents have on people’s everyday lives.

Her experiences in the pool taught her the importance of perseverance and discipline, qualities she now applies with a genuine dedication to helping clients in unexpected times of need. Along with her scholarship, Abby's academic achievements included an Honours thesis comparing multi-jurisdictional differences in the law for victims of medical negligence.

Abby thanked Murphy’s Law Accident Lawyers Special Counsel Michelle Tomley for moving her admission and said she looked forward to now working under her as a junior lawyer. “I chose Michelle to move my admission because she has been a great mentor to me with such a wealth of knowledge from which I have already learned so much,” Abby said.

“I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has guided me along the way so far and helped shape the lawyer I am becoming. As I begin this next chapter, I’m excited to contribute meaningfully to the profession, advocate for those in need, and continue learning every step of the way." On the rare occasions when Abby is not at work or in the pool, she is also learning French on Duolingo and teaching herself knitting.

The win comes as Murphy’s Law Accident Lawyers continues to mark its tenth year of operation, a milestone underscored by a string of achievements, including prestigious awards, a flawless five-star Google review rating, and outstanding settlement outcomes. Murphy’s Law Accident Lawyers Associate Kirstie Watts was recently named as the overall national winner in the Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Awards for Health, Medical and Personal Injury, while fellow Associate Monique Andreazza was named as a Future Legal Leader by Australasian Lawyer.

Chris McManus (Principal) and Chris McMahon (Special Counsel), both Queensland Law Society Accredited Personal Injury Law Specialists, were also recently named among the top 5 per cent of legal professionals in the country in the 18th edition of The Best Lawyers in Australia.
